Disney has released a new trailer for Rob Marshall’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I want to be excited for this flick but I still have mixed feelings on it. On the one hand, I can’t believe that the plot is yet again “Jack must get the Black Pearl back from another pirate.” But on the other hand, once the Pirates‘ theme music kicked in near the end of the trailer, I suddenly became pumped to return to this crazy world and see more adventure on the high seas. There are some good jokes in the trailer, some imaginative designs, and I hope that this movie delivers.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer along with two new images. Pirates of the Caribbean stars Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, and Geoffrey Rush. It opens in 3D on May 20th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides:
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penélope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge,” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.
If you had the willpower to change the channel from the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet to watch the Super Bowl, you not only witnessed consistent Green Bay talent (sorry Steelers fans), but you were also pleasantly surprised by tons of new footage from upcoming movies like Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Captain America (which featured an impressive Christian Bale-esque physical transformation by Chris Evans), and the fourth installment of the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
The new Pirates footage shows that the sequel will include all things “pirate” that were left out of the last three; i.e. mermaids, peg legs, sexy Spanish seafarers, Blackbeard (played by Ian McShane), and even zombies (alright, maybe zombies are not a usual staple in pirate stories, but by now we’ve learned to succumb to whatever floats Jerry Bruckheimer’s boat). You’ll also see Johnny Depp in all his Captain Jack Sparrow glory acting exactly as you would expect, though I’m not saying that’s a bad thing .Pirates is slated to hit theatres May 20th 2011, and also stars Geoffrey Rush, Penelope Cruz and Judie Dench. Hit the jump to check out the new footage.
Ah, the Super Bowl. An event like no other. It’s uniqueness lies in the fact that you don’t really even have to care about the teams that are playing because there’s so much more to savor. Whether it be those silly Budweiser ads, the whacked-out, over the top halftime shows that typically star musical icons many presumed dead; or, most importantly, the movie trailers.
Among those included are Paramount’s Super 8 and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. For the complete list, as well as a look at the trailers that will debut during the pre-game festivities, hit the jump.
